Music City Suds is the proud unofficial soapmaker of country music. The company’s all-natural, vegetarian, handcrafted soaps are as well known for their quality as they are for their laugh-out-loud, country music-inspired product names, from “Flatt and Scrubs” to “I Walk the Lime.” It’s the winning combination of artistry and humor that lands these artisan soaps in gift bags at the CMT and CMA awards and inspires custom blends for big name country stars, like “Clean you Now” with Lady A.
Every Music City Suds product is handmade in Nashville, and inspired by the sights, sounds, and people of the city. And while the punny names put the products on the map, all you have to do is open the reclaimed sheet music wrapper to understand that the soap is pretty special, too. Made with food-grade, locally sourced ingredients, these soaps are as pure and natural as they are irresistible. Each batch is made with high-quality essential oils and vegetable oils with zero synthetic color or fragrance. No harsh chemicals. No skin-irritating additives. Honest and authentic, just like a good country song.
Music City Suds owner and founder, Rachel Mullen, created the company as an homage to the “soundtrack of her childhood.” Growing up on a farm in rural Tennessee, she was raised on the sounds of Johnny, June, Waylon, Tammy, and Merle. She started the business as a passion project to honor her beloved “it” city as well as her rural Southern past. Like classic country music, soapmaking is a tradition, too. Rachel remembers her grandmother making batches of lye soap on the farm; though Rachel’s artisan methods and ingredients are more modern, the urge to make something with her hands is timeless. As for the clever names, Rachel’s favorite is Friends in Aloe Places, a bar soap made with spearmint essential oil. At Music City Suds, the names are just as important as the formula. No matter how great a new recipe might be, she won’t start production until the name is just right.
You don’t have to be a country music fan to sing in the shower with Music City Suds. Whether you lather up with “Lavender and Ever, Amen,” surprise a friend with “The Devil Mint Down to Georgia” lip balm, or welcome an overnight guest with a bar of “Stand by your Mandarin,” you’ll get a little splash of Tennessee and a smile every time.
