If you’ve ever wondered about the true translation of “Bless your heart” in the Southern lexicon, you’ll appreciate the spirit of Southern Fried Design Barn’s quirky creations. This full-service design studio and Southern-inspired gift company creates clever stationery, art prints, zipper pouches, kitchen towels, and specialty items emblazoned with iconic Southern sayings.
Southern Fried products make easy gifts because they feel nostalgic and stylish all at once, striking the perfect blend of Southern rural heritage and on-trend design. From a cheeky “Better late than ugly” zipper pouch to a charming tea towel inspired by vintage flour sacks, SFDB gifts are equal parts sweet and spicy, just like life in the American South.
Southern Fried Design Barn is owned and operated by Nashville graphic designer Amy Kinslow. After working for big-name corporate clients including CMT, Amy turned her artist’s eye toward her childhood in Lebanon, Tennessee; in particular, the music, food, stories, and language handed down through generations of family. SFDB is Amy’s tribute to Southern history and culture, pairing modern design with the down-home spirit of Tennessee. Despite the company’s growth from side-hustle to booming local business, Amy still creates each and every design herself.
Every Southern Fried product is proudly designed and printed in Nashville, Tennessee, with many of the kitchen towels and shirts still silkscreened by hand. It’s an intentional and meaningful choice for Amy: when her customers support SFDB, they’re also supporting Amy’s beloved Music City artisan community. All paper goods are printed on 100% American-made, post-consumer stock from French Paper Company, a 6th generation family-owned company dedicated to sustainable production using renewable energy.
Made in TN is proud to carry Southern Fried’s sought-after local products, and we love using Amy’s hand-screened kitchen towels to add a pop of personality to a custom gift basket. Find your favorite here.
